Zeitwerk

Digital display, purely mechanical

The Zeitwerk shows hours and minutes via jumping numeral discs within a time bridge — driven mechanically by a constant-force remontoir that times the jumps precisely.

History

The evolution of the Zeitwerk

In 2009 Lange introduced the Zeitwerk: a break from hand display, yet resolved with consistent mechanical rigour.

Calibre L043.1 uses a remontoir that releases a constant force every minute so the numeral discs jump precisely without straining the movement.

The Zeitwerk Striking Time with quarter-hour chime followed in 2011, the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater in 2013, and the Zeitwerk Date with a glass date ring in 2019.

The time bridge in German silver, which holds the display and movement together, is the design signature of the line.
