The Malte carries the house's emblem in the shape of its case: a tonneau case with a doubly domed crystal, part of the manufacture's history since the 1910s.
The evolution of the Malte
Vacheron Constantin was already producing tonneau cases from 1912. In 2000 this form was gathered into a dedicated line under the name Malte.
Over the years the line encompassed hand-wound, automatic, power reserve, regulator, skeleton tourbillon, and chronograph executions.
Characteristic is the way the dial and movement bridges are adapted to the curved case shape — in the tourbillon executions, extending even into the movement architecture.
The Malte Tourbillon with Maltese-cross cage is among the line's best-known executions.
